Reflections
Sleeping Bear Dunes
Sun and shadow play their game.
They run as one from where they came,
pass by again and disappear.
Scattered clouds bring them here.
A painter’s brush down from the sky
to paint with light that runs on by.
Rainbow colors to let unfold
the greens and reds and nature’s gold.
The camera captures a point in time,
but barely knows the life entwined.
There’s so much more that is the barn;
a dream, a family, a home, a farm.
Tomorrow’s fortunes are yet unknown.
The barn is empty, the field not sown.
Uncertainty has always been her lot.
Sometimes a harvest, sometimes not.
The pasture barn still stands apart
and whispers to the quiet heart,
of hard work and honest dreams,
of times gone by - and yet unseen.
